Plant strong safety Drew Madhu didn't have to wait to decide on his college future.

Two months before starting his senior season, Madhu has committed to Stanford, Plant coach Robert Weiner said Friday evening.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Madhu averaged 9.3 tackles (121 total), had 14 passes defended and one interception last season as a junior for the Class 5A state finalist Panthers

Madhu carried six offers, including one from Ivy League school Harvard, but instead chose the student-athlete atmosphere of Stanford. Madhu has a 5.2 weighted and 3.6 unweighted grade-point average.

He also had offers from Elon, UAB and FIU.
