After a promising freshman season at Plant this past spring, right-handed pitcher Ronnie Ramirez has made two commitments -- to Jesuit and Florida State University.
Ramirez's father, Jorge, confirmed to the Times today that his son formally has transferred to Jesuit and accepted a scholarship offer from the Seminoles after attending a recent camp. Jorge Ramirez, who attended FSU with his wife Christina, said he believes his son's commitment is firm.
"Without a doubt," Jorge Ramirez said. "We tried to talk to him about keeping some options open ...and he's pretty dead set. He's been a Seminole fan for a long time."
Ramirez was a vital member of the Palma Ceia/Bayshore all-star team that won last summer's Junior League World Series title in Taylor, Mich. In 14 innings for Plant last season, he posted a 0.50 ERA, striking out 18 and walking five.
