The Mark Everett era began with a resounding win as the host Warriors jumped to a 28-0 lead at the half and cruised to a preseason win.

But it was bittersweet. Everett was unable to attend because his father died this week.

“I’m in Pennsylvania and was waiting for the call from my coaches to see how we did,” Everett said. “It was a great start for us and I can’t wait to come back and see the film.”

Allen Barnes, who will take over at quarterback, threw a touchdown pass and ran a punt return back for another score. In the second half, Calvary was able to play most of its backups.

Everett, who coached at Dunedin from 1999-2009, took over as coach in June. He was the Warriors’ offensive coordinator last season.
