ST. PETERSBURG — Gibbs came back from an early deficit to defeat Seminole  14-7 in Friday’s preseason game .

Seminole scored on its first possession, a 43-yard drive that ended with quarterback Aaron Dever’s 1-yard run.

That was followed by four consecutive drives between the Gladiators and Warhawks that ended in an interception.

The second half also started  sloppily, with a Seminole fumble that gave Gibbs excellent field position at the Warhawks’  20. But an incomplete pass to wide receiver Maurice Hall on fourth down returned the ball to the Warhawks.

Gibbs cut the lead to one in the third quarter when quarterback Brevet Killett ran 10 yards to the outside for a score.

The Gladiators  took the lead a short while later when Hall returned a Seminole punt 75 yards .

“We made a lot of mistakes, but we were able to come back,” said new Gibbs coach Rick Kravitz. Kravitz said he was pleased by his team’s fight, particularly the tackling on defense.

Seminole’s senior running back Ra’Quanne Dickens had 74 yards on 19 carries.
