Jesse Holmes’ 5-yard touchdown catch with 18 seconds left completed a 92-yard drive in the game’s final four minutes. Terrance Williams made the key play of the drive with his 40-yard catch on a jumpball down to the 5.

The Spartans were without an active kicker, so down two points, had to go for the end zone. Spoto led early by nine, then trailed by as many as 11 points as Newsome got three first-half touchdowns from senior Bruce Anderson III.
