Freedom boys basketball coach Travis Priddy confirmed Friday evening he has resigned after two seasons with the Patriots for family reasons.

"I had to give up teaching this year to take care of my (year-old) son but I will be back on the sidelines soon," Priddy said via text message.

Freedom finished 22-24 during his watch. Priddy coached in Savannah, Ga. (2007-09), and at Nature Coast (2004-07) before arriving in New Tampa.

He becomes the second county coach in a month to step down, joining Newsome's Jon Mackey.
