Chamberlain senior Reggie Hart, who helped lead the Chiefs to their third consecutive district title Friday, has been named the Tampa Bay Boys Basketball Coaches Association (TBBCA) Player of the Year, association president Steve Smith confirmed Wednesday.
The coaches in the TBBCA, which comprises all of Hillsborough County, also named their 24 boys "all-stars" for the 2012-13 season. All will be honored at the TBBCA's annual banquet at the David A. Straz, Jr., Center for the Performing Arts on April 16.
Hart (center), a 6-foot-3 swingman, likely will end his career as the county's top scorer a second consecutive season. He averaged 28 points and 9.2 rebounds as a junior, and enters the 7A playoffs with a 25.9-point average this year. He scored 35 in a 10-point win against Wiregrass Ranch in Friday's District 9 title game.
