Region boys basketball: Bayshore Christian ends playoff drought

Bayshore Christian earned its first playoff victory in six years, 60-46, with a strong second half against Cambridge Christian (17-9) in the Class 2A region quarterfinals.

Bayshore (24-3) led by seven at halftime before outscoring Cambridge 18-10 in the fourth quarter to turn a close game into its third consecutive double-digit victory.

Eric Davis was one of the Faith Warriors’ biggest stars. He finished with 26 rebounds and eight points in the victory.

Three Bayshore players scored in double figures: Matthew Eckermann (14 points), Josh Humphries (14) and Greg Johnson (12). Evan Holland finished with eight points and four steals.

Bayshore advances to play Academy at the Lakes, which blew out Canterbury 74-46.
