Brooks DeBartolo (20-8) continued its best season in school history with a 66-55 road win over Lakeland Christian  in its first playoff game in the Class 3A region quarterfinals.

“We talked about executing all year long,” coach Brian Reeves said. “It was a good time to get our best execution of the year.”

The star was junior guard Michael Obi. He exploded for a season-high 35 points on 14-of-19 shooting after attacking Lakeland Christian’s zone early.

Brenden Huynh added 14 points for the Phoenix, and Jarred Anderson pitched in 12 to help the school complete the program’s first 20-win season.

Brooks DeBartolo’s win sets up a rematch against Tampa Prep. The Phoenix lost all three previous matchups by at least eight points, including a 73-53 defeat in last week’s district championship game.
