Dunedin scored 133 points to place fifth at the Class 2A, Region 2 tournament in St. Cloud, the highest finish among county teams. The Falcons had three champions, Clarence Arrington (120 pounds) Kyle Goodnow (170) and RJ Ruth (220).

Arrington cruised through his weight class, recording a 10-7 decision over South Lake’s John Ortiz.

Goodnow had to battle through two close decisions to keep his perfect record intact. In the semifinals, he beat Carlos Carrasquillo of Nature Coast Tech 2-1 in overtime. The finals were just as tough with Goodnow winning 3-1 over Springstead’s Conor Ross.

Ruth had one close bout, an 11-10 decision over Citrus’ Zach Collins. After that, he cruised in an 8-3 decision over Springstead’s Willie Smith in the semifinals and pinned Lake Gibson’s Jean Silverance in five minutes, 32 seconds in the championship match.
