Plant City OG Montel McBride reportedly has committed to the University of Alabama while at The Opening, a national recruiting showcase in Beaverton, Ore.
The news was first reported by 247Sports, which tweeted a photo of him wearing a UA cap at The Opening. McBride (6-foot-4, 330 pounds) did not immediately return a text message Tuesday afternoon from the Tampa Bay Times, but several recruiting services reported late Tuesday afternoon McBride had informed Tide coach Nick Saban of his decision.
Nicknamed "Blind Side," McBride earned offensive line MVP honors at two offseason camps in the Southeast, and is deemed a three-star prospect by both 247Sports and Rivals.com. The Times published this story about him during the Under Armour All-America combine at Tropicana Field in January.
McBride has at least four offers from SEC schools, and approximately 15 overall. He received an on-campus visit from Crimson Tide assistant Chris Rumph during spring practice in late May.
