Apparently, Armwood junior TB Matt Jones is ready to put a proverbial stiff-arm to any suspense-laden, drawn-out recruiting process.

In a text message Monday evening, Hawks coach Sean Callahan said Jones will announce his college of choice at a press conference Wednesday night at the school's field house.

"Matt Jones will make a solid commitment to either Florida, or Georgia at this time," Callahan said in the text.

Various online reports, however, indicate he already has committed to Florida after visiting the campus Saturday.

Jones didn't immediately respond Monday to a phone message from the Times, but told the Orlando Sentinel, "I grew up a Georgia fan and they were the top, but Florida just took over. I just like Coach (Will) Muschamp. He's a great guy and so is (offensive coordinator) Charlie Weis. ... I knew I was going to commit when I got there."

The Gainesville Sun, citing no sources, also reported Jones is headed to UF.

Brimming with physical upside, Jones (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) has brandished his potential in mesmerizing flashes the past two seasons. As a junior, he ran for 1,447 yards and 25 TDs while leading the Hawks (14-1) to the Class 4A state final. His sophomore-year numbers: 682 yards on 88 carries.
