Ridgewood senior Ricki Goff spent just one season running cross country for the Rams, but it was enough to earn a scholarship to Pasco-Hernando Community College according to Rams track coach Sue Vien.

Goff has already signed with PHCC and will run for Quistas coach Jacki Wachtel, who has been with the program for six years.

"I think Jacki saw that Ricki was a hard worker and each week her times were dropping dramatically," Vien said. "Jacki can see the potential in her."

Goff has spent most of her Ridgewood career on the Rams track team, where she is a hurdler and long jumper. She also runs a leg on the Rams 4 x 400 relay team. But Vien encourages her athletes to run cross country or swim in the fall to stay in shape. Goff chose cross country and was able to earn a scholarship after just one season of competition.

"She's really just an outstanding athlete," Vien said.
