'Right now,' Gators atop Hargreaves' list

Though his dad coaches at the Big East program just down the road, Wharton junior ATH Vernon Hargreaves III said Monday evening the University of Florida is atop his college wish list at this point.

"If I had to choose one it would be Florida right now," said Hargreaves (5-foot-10, 180 pounds), who has amassed 536 total yards, 49 tackles, two picks, 11 TDs and a 99-yard kick return for the playoff-bound Wildcats (5-5).

"I've always kind of liked Florida. They've recruited me hard, I talk to the coaches all the time. They're not just telling me stuff I want to hear."

Hargreaves, who has lined up at seven spots for Wharton but projects as a defensive back at the next level, said he has offers from the Gators, USF, Miami, FSU and Notre Dame.

Look for the Bulls to never back off him unless he runs away from home. Hargreaves' dad, Vernon Jr., is USF's defensive ends coach and special teams coordinator.
