River Ridge junior center John Childs has picked up his second college offer, from American University, he said Wednesday in a text message.

The 6-foot-8 center was academically ineligible early last season but starred for the Royal Knights late. He earned honorable mention all-Sunshine Athletic Conference honors and had a triple-double – 20 points, 13 rebounds, 10 blocks – in a loss to Land O’Lakes in the Class 6A, District 10 tournament.

American University plays in the NCAA Division I Patriot League and is in Washington, D.C. The Eagles finished 20-12 last season.

Childs also has an offer from Jacksonville University.
