Here are two River Ridge players to keep an eye on tonight when the Royal Knights travel to Mitchell: Kyle Bartlett and Austin Schwarz.

“They stood out (last week),” River Ridge coach Tim Stevens said.

Both play linebacker.

Both play it well.

And, best of all for the Royal Knights, both are only sophomores.

“They’re very hard workers,” Stevens said of the first-year starters. “They run to the ball and make good tackles.”

River Ridge’s first-team defense blanked Zephyrhills last week, and both Bartlett (5-foot-10, 175 pounds) and Schwarz (6-0, 195) played prominent roles. Schwarz’s performance was expected; Bartlett’s wasn’t.

“We knew Austin was going to be pretty decent,” Stevens said. “But Kyle was a very pleasant surprise. It seems like they’re getting better every day in practice.”
