Riverview volleyball standout Kiahna Wicks, who has helped guide the Sharks to consecutive district titles, has committed to Division I Samford University, her mother announced.

A 5-foot-11 middle blocker/outside hitter, Wicks is entering her fourth season as a Sharks starter. As a junior, she averaged 2.2 kills a game (tied for second-most on the team) and totaled 39 blocks. In two preseason victories last week, she totaled a team-best 21 kills and four blocks.

Wicks was the starting middle blocker for the Team Florida Indoor High Performance All-Stars that competed in a national tournament in Iowa in July. Her club team, Tampa United, won two age-group gold medals and a silver during the USA Volleyball tournament season last spring.

Samford, located just outside Birmingham, Ala., is the reigning Southern Conference champion.
