Vader Green and his wife were watching their son Ryan play a 7-on-7 game at Doak Campbell Stadium Tuesday afternoon, when FSU's Jimbo Fisher and Lawrence Dawsey walked his way. Since they had told him earlier they wanted to meet with Ryan after the camp concluded, Vader was hoping for the best.
Fisher delivered, shaking his hand and telling him the Seminoles were extending a verbal offer to the St. Petersburg Catholic junior running back.
"It was amazing,'' said Vader, a former St. Petersburg High standout. "They said they would be keeping a close eye on him next season, and wanted him playing in this stadium.''
It is Ryan Green's second offer; he picked up his first last week from Kentucky and has now emerged as Pinellas County's top recruit in the 2013 class.
Ryan Green, who runs a solid 4.5 and rushed for more than 1,200 yards last season, had just completed an amazing few days of football, standing out at running back amongst the state's best in Tallahassee. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound speedster showed great explosiveness, vision and speed at the combine, and Vader said his son even shined on the defensive side as well, chasing down a receiver with a 20-yard head start in the 7-on-7 game.
