Mitchell guard/linebacker Chris Schalles has been invited to the Blue-Grey high school all-star football game, his mother, Theresa Greco said Tuesday.

Schalles, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound senior, performed well enough at a Blue-Grey regional combine at Raymond James Stadium to earn an invite to June's national combine at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. He performed well enough then to receive an invitation in the mail over the weekend to the nationally televised all-star contest.

Gulf lineman Jeff Kruse has also been invited to the all-star game, Kruse said Tuesday night.

The 6-foot-3, 277-pound Kruse is one of the North Suncoast's top linemen and an Ivy League prospect. Kruse was the top defensive performer at the national combine.

The Blue-Grey game is Jan. 14 at Raymond James Stadium.

Schalles' teammate, Spencer Whittaker was also invited to the national combine.
