The appeal of Berkeley Prep sophomore LB Joe Schiano, who received a six-week suspension from the FHSAA for unsportsmanlike conduct during a Sept. 28 game, has been denied.

FHSAA spokesman Corey Sobers announced the denial today. Berkeley Prep filed its appeal after Schiano, son of Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano, was ejected in the late stages of a 41-19 win against Lennard for allegedly using profanity at an official.

Our initial story on the suspension can be found here. Schiano must sit out the remainder of the regular season, but would be eligible for Berkeley's first playoff game on Nov. 16, if the Bucs reach the postseason.
