Seminole volleyball coach Dexter Rogers is leaving the program to become the coach at Palm Harbor University.

Rogers replaces Tara Kuk, who resigned as the Hurricanes coach after 12 seasons. Kuk led PHU to nine playoff appearances, including seven straight. This past season the Hurricanes were 24-5 and advanced to the region semifinals.

“I’m excited to start a new journey,” Rogers said. “Tara asked, I applied, and I got the job. I’m excited to work with a whole new group of players that have club experience.”

Rogers is a Lakewood graduate who was an alternate on the 1996 U.S. Olympic volleyball team. He coached at St. Petersburg before taking over Seminole, where he guided the Warhawks to three playoff appearances, including the past two seasons.

Rogers was officially hired at PHU last week. He also will be an English teacher at the school.
