Seminole senior baseball player Corey Baptist, who transferred from St. Petersburg Catholic, has committed to play at Mississippi next fall, according to Warhawks coach Jeff Pincus. As a junior, Baptist hit .316 with 17 RBIs and a team-high four home runs.
Baptist played first base for the Barons and helped them to a 20-10-1 record and an appearance in the state championship game. Pincus said he does not know which position Baptist will play for the Warhawks.
Mississippi was 37-26 overall in 2012, 14-16 in the SEC.
