Seminole's Joey Krehbiel wants to get his professional career started as soon as possible and said he plans to sign with the Angels on Friday.
Last week, the Angels selected Krehbiel in the 12th round of the amateur draft. He said his signing bonus will be $125,000.
Krehbiel, the 2010 Pinellas player of the year and this season's pitcher of the year, was the highest county draft pick. He said the Angels called in the seventh round, but that was to determine if he would sign for 12th round "slot money", the amount recommended by MLB for draft picks based on where they were selected.
"I'm pleased with the offer," Krehbiel said.
Krehbiel said he will fly out Saturday to report to the Angels' Arizona Rookie League Affiliate in Tempe.
