Seminole’s Joey Krehbiel, the Times' Pinellas County baseball player of the year, has committed to the University of South Florida, Warhawks coach Greg Olsen said.

Krehbiel, a shortstop and closer, put up numbers at both positions that were hard to beat this past season. He hit .476 with six home runs and 20 RBIs, ranking among the top two county public school players in batting average and home runs.

He also was pretty good on the mound, recording nine saves with a 1.00 ERA. Perhaps, most important, he played his best when it mattered most, helping the Warhawks knock off Dunedin in the Class 5A region semifinals.
