Seth McClung resigns as Osceola girls basketball coach

Seth McClung has resigned as Osceola’s girls basketball coach. McClung, a former pitcher for the Rays and Brewers, made the announcement on the same day he was released by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He is trying to make a comeback in baseball after playing the past two seasons in Mexico.

McClung said he hopes to hook up with another MLB team this spring or perhaps play somewhere else professionally this summer.

“I want to figure out if I’m going to play this year and if I’m not I might want to get into baseball (coaching),’’ McClung said in a text.

McClung, 33, coached at Osceola for two seasons and was 29-26. This season the Warriors were 13-15. McClung also coached for two seasons at Pinellas Park, where he was 5-45. McClung’s four year overall record is 52-78.
