Two days after hurting his left ankle against River Ridge while attempting to catch a pass, Gulf star TE/DL Leon Orr still is experiencing some pain and his status for Friday’s game against Ridgewood is up in the air.

“It doesn’t look good for this week right now,” Bucs coach Jay Fulmer said. “He called last night and said, ‘My leg is killing me.’ ”

According to Fulmer, Orr likely will have an x-ray on the ankle Monday.

“He’s still swollen in the lower leg,” Fulmer said. “He’s been icing it all weekend. We’re going to have the x-ray to make sure everything is okay. We need to get it checked out to make sure it’s not too major. Or if it is, we can start treating it now.”

If the 6-foot-4, 300-pound Orr, a Rivals.com top 100 national recruit, can’t play, it would be a significant loss for the Bucs. The Florida Gators recruit is a major factor on both sides of the ball, and arguably is the area’s most talented player.

“He’s a tough kid,” Fulmer said. “I’m sure if he can go, he will.”
