Sickles' Rembert picks up more offers

Six months after helping lead Sickles to the Class 5A boys basketball state final, senior Rashawn Rembert has gathered more than a half-dozen scholarship offers.

In addition to Liberty and Ohio University, which offered before the end of last season, Gryphons coach Renaldo Garcia said Rembert also has received offers from East Tennessee State, Murray State, Northeastern, Delaware, UNC-Wilmington and Monmouth.

"Now it's about looking at each school, exploring all his options and going from there," Garcia said.

A 6-foot-3 shooting guard with a great burst off the dribble, Rembert led Sickles in scoring (21.7 ppg) last season en route to third-team 5A all-state honors. His highlight: a near double-double 27 points, nine rebounds), including a 10-for-10 effort from the free-throw line, in a 56-53 state semifinal win against Niceville.
