Softball super seven
Results through Tuesday
1. River Ridge (12-1): A 1-0 loss to Plant doesn’t hide the Royal Knights’ talent. River Ridge also knocked off Seminole and defending state champ Durant last week and blew out rival Mitchell 11-0 Tuesday.
2. Gulf (11-1): The Buccaneers seemed to have rebounded just fine after their first loss. Gulf has pounded its past two opponents by a combined 28-0.
3. Mitchell (8-3): Aside from two lopsided losses to River Ridge, the Mustangs are 8-1 and have outscored opponents 88-16.
4. Zephyrhills (10-3): The Bulldogs have reeled off six wins in a row and have a chance to avenge their last loss — a 4-2 Gulf victory — on Tuesday.
5. Hernando (7-2): Last week’s 15-5 win over a solid Nature Coast team serves as a reminder that the Leopards are legitimate contenders for their first playoff appearance since 2005.
6. Springstead (7-3): Louise Disi deserves consideration as one of the North Suncoast’s complete players. She’s among the area’s leaders in RBIs, strikeouts, ERA and home runs.
7. Wiregrass Ranch (7-4): After a solid 5-2 victory over Pasco last week, the Bulls have a chance for a statement win tonight against Gulf.
