A pair of sophomores – Middleton’s Daniel Dean and King’s Sneha Sathish – were individual champions over the weekend at the Don Bishop Invitational in Brandon.
Dean finished the 5K in 16 minutes, 49 seconds to beat Jefferson junior Daniel Erickson (17:10), Bloomingdale’s Andrew Leblanc (17:36) and Durant’s duo of Jake Brownfield and Adam Yuhas. Dean’s Tiger teammate, Judah Dean, finished sixth (17:51).
Matthew Leblanc (eighth) and Bo Benik (ninth) helped carry Bloomingdale to the team victory, 26 points ahead of second-place Riverview.
In the girls race, Sathish cruised to first place in 19:15 – almost a minute faster than runner-up Eliana Ochoa of Brandon. Armwood junior Lindsay Shealy (20:29) was third, followed by Bloomingdale’s Kali Clemmer.
Wharton won the team title by five points over Steinbrenner. The Wildcats placed four girls in the top 10, including two in the top seven: senior Mariah Henderson (fourth, 20:51) and freshman Bryanna Rivers (seventh, 21:09). Senior Barbara Feldhaus led the Warriors by finishing 10th.
