St. Petersburg Catholic will induct four former players into its second baseball hall of fame class on Feb. 4 at the Suncoast Hospice Center in St. Petersburg.
The induction ceremonies will start at 6:30 p.m. and includes a dinner that is open to the public. Tickets are $20. The inductees are Tom Bonfield, Eddie Cardieri, Marty Lyons and Mike Schoeller.
Bonfield (Class of 1973) was on the school's only state title team in '72 and was an all-county and all-state selection in '73. He was an All-American at Saint Leo and was drafted in the 23rd round by the Yankees.
Cardieri was an all-county and all-conference selection who also played on the '72 state team. He coached more than 20 seasons at USF and finished his career there with the most games coached and won in school history.
Lyons was pitcher on the school's '74 team that finished as the state runnerup and the '75 team that made the final four. He was first-team, all-state in '74 and was drafted by the Mets. He decided to play football at Alabama, where he was an All-American and played on the '78 national championship team. He played 12 seasons with the New York Jets.
Schoeller was on the '74 and '75 teams that made the final four and was an All-American at Florida Southern. He was drafted in the fifth round by the Tigers and played professionally for five years.
