St. Petersburg Catholic offensive lineman and University of Miami commit Reilly Gibbons has been selected to play in the 2014 Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl on Jan. 5 in Carson, Calif.

The game, which will be shown nationally by Fox Sports 1, features about 90 student-athletes from across the country.

Gibbons, 6-foot-5, 285 pounds, switched from tight end to left tackle prior to last season. He received offers from 37 colleges before selecting the Hurricanes in April.

The Semper Fidelis Bowl is in its third year and is sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps. Players are selected for their athletic and academic success and are the “embodiment of the Marine Corps values of honor, courage and commitment,’’ according to a release.
