Spring game-breakers: The Marauders scored five first-half touchdowns in a game marked by passing and turnovers. …CCC quarterback Jeff Smith Jr. threw for 193 yards and had a 77-yard rushing touchdown on the second play of the game. Smith threw four touchdowns, two of them to Jacobi Adderley. Adderley’s first touchdown was a 6-yard reception that put the Marauders ahead 21-7 with 3:10 left in the second. Smith and Adderley hooked up again for a 36-yard TD less than two minutes before halftime. Brandon Junk (16 yards) and John Brunner (15) caught the other TDs. …Indians quarterback Jacob Lee Gallegos passed for 231 yards, but the CCC defense forced six turnovers. …CCC’s Jarod Brown capped scoring with a 55-yard interception return.

Did you know? Immokalee missed out on two scoring chances in the second quarter. The first came when Ta’Riq Brown had the ball knocked from him near the Marauder goal line, with CCC taking over on downs. The second came when defensive back Demetri Royer intercepted Gallegos in the end zone and returned it 90 yards deep into Indian territory.

Audible 1: “We were thrilled with how everything went, especially in the first half. The great thing about the offense is that they made some plays on their own. The receivers also made some big catches.” — CCC coach John Davis

Audible 2:  “Our defense was good in that they created a lot of turnovers and takeaways. We’ve got a lot of improving to do and some conditioning. We’re still pretty young, though, on defense, after losing our entire defense from last year.” — Davis

Audible 3: “We are happy we played this game, because we didn’t want to just play an average opponent. We wanted to play a good one.” — Immokalee coach Rich Dombroski
