At Berkeley Prep

Spring game-breakers:  Running back Nelson Agholor accounted for 176 yards total offense and three touchdowns as Berkeley Prep defeated Lake Highland Prep 35-21 Friday. Agholor rushed for 138 yards on nine carries and three scores, including a 70-yarder on the Buccaneers’ first series of the second half. …Quarterback Destin Nichols threw for 240 yards and two scores in three quarters, completing 13-of-22 passes. His favorite target was Christian Hardegree, who caught five passes for 109 yards and a touchdown, all in the first half. Pierce Hunt added 72 yards on three receptions.

Did you know? The game, played a week earlier than most schools because of exams and testing at Berkeley Prep and Lake Highland Prep, was contested on the soccer field. The Buccaneers’ football field is being resodded. …Berkeley Prep has allowed 652 yards rushing in its last two games. The Buccaneers gave up 264 yards on the ground against the Highlanders, who had 24 first downs. Berkeley Prep allowed 388 rushing yards in a 35-21 loss to Dixie County in the Class A regional semifinals to close last season. . …Lee Newhaller and Hardegree each had a scoring pass reception and interception, and Marc Schwartz also picked off a pass for Berkeley Prep.
