Largo 35, Clearwater 12

Spring game-breakers:  Friday’s  game against Clearwater was a coming-out party for Largo running back Jarvis Stewart and fullback Harry Brown. Stewart rushed 10 times for 138 yards and a touchdown early in the third quarter. Brown rushed five times for 18 yards and two first-half touchdowns. … Packers quarterback Juwan Brown, in his first game  since a right knee injury forced him to miss the second half of last season,  showed he was pretty close to 100 percent, rushing five times for 22 yards. He also completed 4 of 7 passes for 118 yards and two second-half touchdowns. … Clearwater got a couple of touchdowns in the fourth quarter on a 48-yard run by rising senior quarterback Rob Yarbrough and a  5-yard pass from rising sophomore backup quarterback Juan Rivera to fellow rising sophomore Adam Harris.

Did you know? Largo’s defense kept Clearwater scoreless until midway through the fourth quarter.

Audible: “The defense played well. We need to work on our backup defense, however. Juwan is 100 percent and we hope to have three great running backs (the injured Derrick Doss, Harry Brown and Jarvis Stewart) come fall.” — Largo coach Rick Rodriguez
