At Pasco
Score:
Pasco 49, Zephyrhills 8

Spring game-breakers: Pasco ATH Janarion Grant picked up right where he left off. The Times’ North Suncoast co-player of the year scored four touchdowns, including a 75-yard kickoff return to open the second half. He also scored on an 8-yard rush and passes of 17 and 21 yards. With a UF recruiter in attendance, Pasco DL Joey Ivie forced a fumble and rushed three times for 14 yards. Pirates RB David Emmanuel added 84 rushing yards and a fumble recovery, and Damien Wilson caught a 36-yard TD pass. …Michael Smith was a two-way standout for Zephyrhills. He passed for 97 yards, including a 13-yard TD pass to Garrett Pritchard and added an interception in the red zone at defensive back. Speedy RB Willie Williams had a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown wiped out because of a penalty. Pritchard and Jaylen Pickett both had fumble recoveries within a seven-play span in the second quarter.

Old names, new roles: Pasco’s Jajuan Henry looked good in his return to quarterback. A defensive player last year, Henry finished 7-of-8 passing for 106 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a highlight-reel, 76-yard touchdown rush on the third play of the game. Henry was a wing-T quarterback on the JV team two years ago. …Jordan Roberts is a familiar name but a newbie to coach Reggie Roberts’ Bulldogs. The 6-foot-2 receiver took a screen pass 77 yards to the Pasco 3 on Zephyrhills’ first play from scrimmage. The track star is already attracting attention from UF, Michigan, Michigan State and Navy.

Audible 1: “We changed the whole offense. It’s just going to take repetition and getting a core group of guys in there. …I thought when we ran it, we ran it pretty good.” — Pasco coach Tom McHugh

Audible 2: “We did the same thing that we’ve done in the past. When we played football, we were in the game.” — Coach  Roberts
