Tampa Bay Tech 7, Freedom 6
King 19, Wharton 8

Spring game-breakers: Tampa Bay Tech used a 57-yard drive in the second quarter to outlast Freedom. Deon Thompson keyed the Tech attack, rushing for 31 yards on drive. Derrell Thompson then capped off the drive with a 1-yard pass to LaMarq Caldwell. …Freedom struck first in the contest. After a couple of key TBT penalties, Freedom junior quarterback Jonathan Economou ran in from 5 yards out to give the Patriots the 6-0 lead. …There was a lot more offense in the second matchup of the night. The King offense was in high gear from the start, scoring touchdowns on three of its four possessions, including the opening drive. King standout quarterback Greg Windham threw for 195 yards and two touchdowns in just two quarters of work. …The Wildcats had a promising 45-yard drive deep into Lions territory, until Chase Litton threw an interception to halt the drive. Wharton finally pushed through though when Litton connected with Darius Page for an 85-yard touchdown pass late in the second.

Did you know? Freedom failed to convert the extra point on its lone score, which ultimately proved to be the difference in the game vs. Tech.

Audible 1: “We had a good last year. But we want to go 10-0 and go to state. We want to win.”  —  King quarterback Greg Windham
