St. Petersburg Catholic's girls soccer team, which finished as the Class 3A state runnerup, will be honored by the City of St. Petersburg Thursday afternoon, Barons coach Gary Kolb said.
Kolb said every member of the team will be at St. Petersburg City Hall at 2 p.m. This past season, the Barons went into their district title with a losing record and made an improbable run toward a state title, starting with an upset over nationally ranked Clearwater Central Catholic in the district semifinals.
In the state semifinals, SPC beat Lake Highland Prep in a game that into penalty kicks. The Barons lost the state final to Miami Gulliver Prep.
