With two more wins this week, St. Petersburg boys basketball coach Chris Blackwell can achieve a coaching milestone.

If the Green Devils beat Countryside tonight and Lakewood on Friday night, Blackwell will have 200 wins in his coaching career.

It would be fitting for Blackwell to reach that win plateau at Lakewood, the school where he was a former standout and assistant before coming to St. Petersburg in 2002 to start to a career as a head coach.

Accustomed to winning, he took some lumps before turning the Green Devils into a consistent contender. Last year, Blackwell guided St. Petersburg to its first state semifinal appearance since 1972.
