St. Petersburg tight end Jeremy Kerr committed to Miami on Monday after attending the Al Golden camp in Coral Gables this past weekend.
Kerr, used more as a blocking tight end last season, had three receptions for 64 yards a touchdown last season. Still, he got a lot of attention from colleges due to his size (6-foot-5, 245 pounds) and ability to stand out at camps, where he earned multiple tight end MVP awards, including one this past weekend in Miami.
Kerr had five offers this spring, including Purdue, UConn and Wake Forest. Miami, though, was the first to offer in April when Kerr attended the Hurricanes' spring game. Soon after, Miami jumped to the top of his list.
“I think Jeremy really liked the school and the fact they came in first,” Green Devils coach Joe Fabrizio said. “Everything just kind of snowballed from there and I’m sure he’s glad to get it out of the way.”
