St. Petersburg kicker Sean Covington was offered by UCLA according to a text from Green Devils coach Joe Fabrizio.

The offer culminates quite an offseason for Covington.

It started in January when he received an offer from Auburn and continued in the spring with impressive performances at camps. He also was selected to play in the Under Armour Gamme along with four other bay area standouts: Armwood’s Alvin Bailey and Leon McQuay III, St. Petersburg Catholic’s Ryan Green and Wharton’s Vernon Hargreaves III.

Last season, Covington was a first-team selection to the Times' all-county and all-Suncoast teams after averaging 43 yards per punt, making seven field goals and recording 27 kickoffs for touchbacks. He currently is ranked as the nation’s No. 1 punter by Kohl’s kicking camps and as the top kickoff specialist by prokicker.com. He was the area’s only selection to the ESPN Underclassmen All-America Team.

Auburn and UCLA are the only schools that have offered but Fabrizio said Covington is getting strong interest from Miami, Rutgers and Temple.
