Steinbrenner girls soccer coach Robert Woodard has resigned after one season.

Woodard says he is uncertain about his future at the school in a teaching capacity and "didn't want to leave them scrounging around at the last minute and leave the girls in that position." Woodard, currently teaching math, is a history professor and would like to teach that subject. He also added that balancing his teaching and coaching duties made for a stressful past year.

The Warriors (16-4-2) advanced to the Class 4A region semifinals this past season, falling 2-0 to nationally ranked Lakeland George Jenkins. Steinbrenner won the Class 3A state title in 2011, the school's second year of existence.
