Steinbrenner rising senior Cici Gonzalez, the Class 4A girls soccer player of the year, placed second to Gulliver Prep's Dara Spital in voting for the Florida Dairy Farmers overall state player of the year.

Gonzalez tallied 100 points (33 goals, 34 assists) for the Warriors, who won the Class 4A state title with a 2-1 overtime win over Merritt Island.

She was one of five finalists -- the players of the year from each classification -- for the award.

Former Steinbrenner coach Teresa Patterson, who stepped down this spring because she is having a baby, was third in coach of the year voting. Gulliver Prep's Everton Edwards won the award.
