Sunlake boys basketball coach Bob Marinak resigned last week, principal Angie Stone confirmed Monday in an e-mail.
Marinak did not immediately respond to a message from the Times seeking comment.
Marinak became the Seahawks' first coach in 2007 after the job was offered to current Freedom coach Travis Priddy. Marinak came to Sunlake after four seasons at Countryside. He also coached at North Marion where in two seasons he turned a 6-20 team into a 14-15 team.
At Sunlake, Marinak's teams showed consistent improvement. The Seahawks went 3-24 in 2007-08, 9-17 in 2008-09 and 11-15 this season.
