Sunlake goalkeeper David Danahy, who was instrumental in leading the Seahawks to their first-ever playoff appearance, will sign later this week with Southeastern University according to his father.

Danahy made several key saves throughout Sunlake's surprising run to the Class 4A region finals. He held Hudson to one goal in a 6-1 region quarterfinal win, and stymied Pasco's high-powered attack to defeat the Pirates in the region semis. Against Celebration in the region finals, Danahy kept Sunlake in the game, stopping one shot after another through regulation and two overtime periods before the Seahawks finally succumbed in a penalty-kick shootout.

Danahy was selected to the All-Sunshine Athletic Conference first team and was a St. Petersburg Times' second team pick following his senior season.

Southeastern University is a NAIA school located in Lakeland.
