Boca Ciega basketball standout Tamara Taylor scored her 1,000th career point Thursday night. And according to Pirates coach Will White, it took her only 57 games to do it.

Taylor, a 5-foot-9 guard/forward, is considered to be among the South's top juniors.

She currently averages 21.2 points per game, making her among the county leaders.

Taylor's teammate, senior guard Latavia Dempsey, is 100 points shy of 1,500 for her career.

The Pirates are 14-1.
