After spending the past few days in Tallahassee at the Seminoles camp, Corey Martinez has received an offer from Florida State.
"I was at a loss for words, I was in shock," said the 6-foot-4, 305-pound Martinez. "It's a dream come true."
Martinez's offer came after a meeting with Rick Trickett, the Seminoles offensive line coach (and Martinez's recruiter), and head coach Jimbo Fisher.
Martinez figures to be one of the top area recruits from the Class of 2014 and has already collected a slew of local and national honors, including an invitation to the U.S. Army National Combine in January and selections to the second-team MaxPreps sophomore All-America team and honorable mention nods on the Army All-Combine Team, AP Florida Class 3A All-State Team and Times All-Hillsborough County team.
Florida State is the third school to offer the rising junior as USF and Kentucky made their pitches before his trip to Tallahassee. As for the rest of his summer, Martinez said he plans to visit Miami and attend its camp the weekend of June 23. Martinez, who grew up as a Seminoles fan and attended Florida State's 2011 opener against Louisiana-Monroe, attended Florida's camp this week.
