Tampa Catholic OL Corey Martinez received a verbal offer from Miami. Head coach Al Golden offered the 6-foot-4, 305-pound rising junior after the Hurricanes' football camp.
"I came on Friday and toured the school, and we talked in his office, but not about an offer," Martinez said. "Today I went out and performed really, really well, and he fell in love with me and told me I had an offer. I also talked to the offensive line coach (Art Kehoe).
"The really like me down there."
It's the second major offer in as many weeks for Martinez, who received an offer from Florida State after attending the Seminoles camp last weekend. Martinez also holds offers from Kentucky and South Florida, and he said he plans on attending the Bulls' camp later this summer.
Martinez figures to be one of the top area recruits from the Class of 2014 and has already collected a slew of local and national honors, including an invitation to the U.S. Army National Combine in January and selections to the second-team MaxPreps sophomore All-America team and honorable mention nods on the Army All-Combine Team, AP Florida Class 3A All-State Team and Times All-Hillsborough County team.
