After receiving an offer this past weekend, Tampa Catholic WR Calvin Armatas committed to Stetson on Monday, Crusaders coach Bob Henriquez confirmed. The 5-foot-9, 185-pound receiver caught 11 passes for 174 yards, an average of just less than 16 yards per catch, last season.
After a 57-year hiatus, Stetson will begin football again in 2013 as a member of the Division-I FCS (formerly Division I-AA) Pioneer Football League. Armatas is the second Hillsborough County player to commit to the Hatters in the past week, with Tampa Bay Tech DL Andrew Green announcing his commitment Friday.
