Tampa Catholic linebacker Brandon Mendoza will sign with St. Francis University in Joliet, Illinois on Monday, the school announced.
He was a three-year starter for the Crusaders football team, was Tampa Catholic's leading tackler his senior year with 101 tackles (8.4 a game).
Mendoza, also a three-year starter on the Crusaders state semifinalist baseball team, will be reunited with his brother, former TC standout defensive lineman Marco Mendoza, who will be a junior at St. Francis this upcoming season.
Tampa Catholic left-handed pitcher T.J. Owen, who is heading to Lurleen B. Wallace Community College, will also sign on Monday at the school. Owen was 4-1 with a 3.50 ERA and 1 save in 40 innings for the Crusaders.
