Jen Hunter, a Tarpon Springs graduate, was selected to the 2012 women`s national baseball team, which plays in the World Cup Games in Edmonton, Alberta, next week.
Hunter was a member of the 2006 USA team that won gold and started in the championship game against Japan.
For the past few years, she has focused on softball, playing two seasons at Brevard Community College, where she was an FCCAA all-state second-team selection. She transferred to Palm Beach Atlantic and red-shirted this past season.
Baseball, though, is her first love and she became the first female to throw a no-hitter in a league championship game, was featured in Sports Illustrated and appeared on ESPN's Cold Pizza to show off her pitching skills when she was 12.
